Discover. Understand. Connect.
The 1:1 sessions I offer at Praktijk Binnenrust are designed for people who have spent a lot of their lives trying to understand themselves - and wondering why simply being sometimes feels so difficult.
From my own lived experience, and that of the clients I support, I discovered that this oftentimes comes with ADHD, giftedness, high sensitivity, dyslexia, autism and other forms of neurodivergence.
If you are tired of constantly adapting, overthinking, masking or trying to figure out how you are "allowed" to be, we can work together to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, more self-acceptance, and a greater sense of inner peace.

About Daan and his method:
A curious, personal approach to understanding yourself
Throughout my work - and in my own life - one question has appeared consistently in my life:
"Who am I really, and am I allowed to be that person?"
It is a question that may sound simple, but for many neurodivergent people, finding an answer can take years.
As a psychologist with both primary and specialized mental healthcare experience, a curious soul, and someone living with an ADHD partner as well as identified with giftedness and high sensitivity myself, I understand that getting to understand yourself is not always as simple as mainstream mental healthcare can make it appear.
Sometimes, the work needs to go deeper.
My approach is centred around understanding how you became who you are, what patterns you have developed to navigate the world, and how you can create more space to be yourself.
The goal is not change, but understanding.

Why a holistic psychological approach:
Because I found that people living with addiction, physical complaints with a mental impact, ADHD, autism, anxieties, and mood disorders benefit less from a classical labeling-treating model, and more from an integrative, holistic approach that allows them to meet every aspect of their inner selves with a bit more warmth, curiosity and acceptance.
In my approach, I blend classical therapy techniques like Schema Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with more acceptance-focused techniques, like Emotion Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems, to tailor each session to your individual needs and requests.
What my approach can help you with:
Neurodivergent experience acceptance
Move from feeling misunderstood, frustrated, and like an outsider, to having a steadier sense of inner peace through self-knowledge and acceptance.
Overcoming unwanted patterns
Get relief from unwanted patterns, addictions, anxiety and depression, by understanding, healing and integrating the emotions, memories and beliefs that sit underneath.
Overcoming generational trauma
Create a safe foundation in the here and now, by breaking the cycle of experiences, patterns, learnings and memories which no longer serve the life you want.
Who my approach is suited for:
My approach can support people from many different backgrounds, but my work is especially aligned with adults who are:
-
Navigating life with ADHD
-
Highly sensitive and easily overwhelmed
-
Gifted or intellectually intense
-
Feeling different, misunderstood or like an outsider
-
Struggling with self-acceptance or low self-esteem
-
Tired of masking, adapting or people-pleasing
-
Experiencing stress, anxiety or emotional overwhelm
-
Trying to understand recurring patterns in their relationships or lives
-
Exploring how their upbringing or family history continues to influence them
You don't necessarily need to arrive with a diagnosis or a perfectly defined problem.
Perhaps you simply have a feeling that something about the way you experience the world is different — and you would like the space to understand it better.
Whether you have a formal diagnosis of giftedness, dyslexia or ADHD, identify as highly sensitive, or simply recognise yourself in these experiences and want to explore the possibility of neurodivergence, we can start from where you are.
